Career Guidance and Career Consciousness.
Over the years, I have made two key observations about career guidance. The first, which aligns with psychological theory, is that many learners begin by analysing available careers before they have analysed themselves—their abilities, interests, and personalities. In this book, I discuss how parents and educators can help learners develop self-understanding so that they can choose careers compatible with their personal characteristics.
My second observation is that many learners begin thinking about their careers too late. In this book, I propose ways to raise learners’ career consciousness throughout their schooling so that their learning becomes more purposeful, as they consistently connect what they study with their future aspirations.
Drawing on my dual training as an educator and psychologist, this book addresses both the psychological and educational issues inherent in the responsibility of helping children with homework. This approach is based on the understanding that parents who are not trained educators are often not adequately empowered to effectively fulfil this role. Without proper guidance, such parents may assist their children using philosophies that are misaligned with current educational approaches.
