In this book, I use psychological theory to explore the psychological challenges that my late parents—particularly my late father, who was a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa—faced, and which many pastors still face today. I address six key areas: stress, burnout, depression, trauma, career management, and retirement. For each of these topics, I draw on personal experiences from my parents’ ministry and use psychological principles to suggest how other pastors can manage similar challenges.
